China:Original Artwork of the “Peonies” Stamp Issue (Six Pieces)

Original artworks are not only an important archival records of stamp issuance, but are also  rare works of art. The artist of the “Peonies” issue,Mr Tian Shiguang, is a well-known Chinese master of fine brushwork of flowers and birds. His works have elegant coloring and a good grounding in basic skills. Under his hands,the ethereal color and celestial fragrance of the peony is shown forth in his painting. In the popularity poll for the best designed stamps in the 30 years since founding of the new republic, the “peonies” stamps  were crowned as “the best designed special stamps”. The 6 original designs displayed are: first design: Alchemist’s Glowing Crucible; fourth design: Chao Pink; fifth design: Yao Yellow; sixth design: Twin Beauty; eighth design: Gold-sprinkled Chinese Ink; thirteenth design: Pea Green.

 

It is the first time that these original artworks of stamps have been displayed publicly. Their display also fit the geographical characteristics of Luoyang as the “Millennium Imperial Capital and Peony City”, and also host of China 2009 World Stamp Exhibition. They will give viewers a rare enjoyment of art.

邮票原图不仅是国家邮票发行的重要档案,也是难得一见的艺术佳品。本次展出的“牡丹”邮票原图,作者是中国著名的工笔花鸟大师田世光先生。他的作品功底深厚,着色典雅,在他的笔下牡丹花的雍容华贵、国色天香跃然纸上。1980年举行的建国30年最佳邮票评选中,“牡丹”邮票被评为“最佳特种邮票”。

 

这次展出的六幅邮票原图分别为:第一图:胜丹炉;第四图:赵  粉;第五图:姚  黄;第六图:二乔;第八图:墨洒金;第十三图:豆绿。这些邮票原图都是首次对外公开展示,它的展出也契合了2009年世界邮展举办地洛阳“千年帝都 牡丹花城”的地域特色,给观众一次难得的艺术享受。
