China:Red Maiden in Green Robe (A Vertical Pair)

 

Proof of the Red Revenue 2-cent surcharge is also known as “2-cent Small Figure Surcharged on Red Revenue Stamps in green”. Due to green ink being used in surcharge on the Red Revenue Stamp, it was known as “Red Maiden in Green Robe”. Because they were trial color proofs, only a few examples spread to the community. According to research, there  are about 9 pieces in existence, of which seven pieces are singles and a lone vertical pair.

红印花加盖“暂作洋银贰分”的试盖票，也称“红印花小字2分绿色加盖票”。因用绿色油墨加盖在红印花原票上，故被雅称为“绿衣红娘”。因系试色加盖票，故仅有少量流出。据考证，“绿衣红娘”邮票存世约9枚，且大多数都是单枚票，由中国邮政邮票博物馆珍藏的这枚直双连“绿衣红娘”票，乃存世孤品。
